In his Introduction (removed), the editor declares he selected these dances from a faded "manuscript book" comprising 123 anonymous pieces, to be found in the Musicology Institute, Leipzig, and scored for 2 Violins, or flutes, oboes, clarinets, together with 2 horns, bass part missing.
