Misc. Notes

The only surviving source for this aria is the conducting score of Handel's pasticcio 'Catone', now preserved at the Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Hamburg. A digitized version of the manuscript is accessible on this institution's website. Timagene (and later Cesare in 'Catone') was sung by the famous bass Antonio Montagnana, who may have brought the aria with him to London.
