Original images: 150dpi grayscale tif (from pdf) files approx. 1600 by 2100 pixels. Editing: re-sampled to 600dpi, converted to black and white tif files, de-skewed, and set uniform margins. Plate prefix would appear to be that of Léon Langlois who wasn't in business until 1869. Can't find the entry in BdlF which would shed light on this.
