Concerto No. 38 consists of three parts: *Missa gantz Teudsch- Kyrie* (pp. 2–12), *Missa gantz Teudsch- Gloria* (pp. 13-47 ) and the Gloria as a hymn *Allein Gott in der Höh* [Alone God on High] (pp. 48–51). In point 5 of the “Performance Instructions” (see complete score), Praetorius explains why he added *Allein Gott in der Höh*. All movements are composed for five or six concertante voices (S S A T T B) and varying numbers of instruments.
