BNF has "Mademoiselle" Chassaigne but does not give a reason. Even if newspaper reports mention a "Mademoiselle E. Chassaigne" this by itself establishes nothing unless there's something to connect that person with the composer of this work. (And again, the pronoun in the dedication is gender-neutral, as BNF knows, yes?)
