The dancer portrayed on the cover (one of two named - "As danced by Fanny Elssler & Mons. Sylvain" - the former, of course) was well-enough known, it seems. See Wikipedia e.g. ; LoC (the Library of Congress) has a category of works having to do with her; the arranger, Zeuner, wrote several others of them himself (a collection of several sets of Elssler quadrilles are digitized under his name in their American Memory section)... etc.
