Observaciones varias

Original Version of the aria as sung in the pasticcio version of Hasse's "Artaserse" in London during the season 1734/35. - Later the aria was extended by an opening instrumental ritornello and additonal melismatic passages; in this form it was interpolated in various other operas, such as Pergolesi's "L'Olimpiade" and even the first Neapolitan performance of Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice". - Source: "The Favourite Songs in the Opera call'd Artaxerxes", J. Walsh, London c. 1735. - Facsimile reprint: Arnaldo Forni, Bologna 1980.
